About These 23 Wall Sculptures
Once again I have included multiple references to the
last line of Psalm 23, and once again I have used
simplified floor plans for that purpose. The floor plans are
only meant to be design elements loosely implying residential
architecture - metaphors. Never have I pretended these
were literal, legitimate architectural renderings.
Canvas has been stretched over irregular shapes built from
two-by-four studs and other common homebuilding materials.
Canvases are then textured with an industrial-grade exterior
insulation finish. It is a non-acidic, 100% acrylic base that is
at least as archival as any artist-grade materials. The paint is
artist's oils. My reason for combining oils and texture in this
manner is to achieve an exaggerated chalk effect
while keeping the permanence of oils.
All twenty-three of these paintings stand on the floor but attach
to the wall at the same time. They might be referred to as wall
sculptures.
